Strictly Dancing
A little bit about Strictly Dancing
The shop 'Strictly Dancing' was established in August 2005 by the mother and daughter partnership of Kay and Joanne White. Joanne is a professional dancer who trained at Preston Dance College and is qualified to teach ballet, jazz, modern and tap. Joanne's CV includes pantomime and a season at Euro Disney. Joanne is currently working as a dancer for MSC Cruises and is spending the winter in Brazil and Argentina.
The inspiration to open a dance wear shop arose from the limited availability of dance wear outlets in the Preston area. Having experienced difficulty obtaining quality affordable dance products during Joannes' formative years, Kay promised that if the opportunity arose she would open her own dance wear shop. That opportunity came along in 2005 and Kay and Joanne purchased the building 13 Cannon Street Preston and transformed it into 'Strictly Dancing'.
The shop is situated only yards from the top end of Fishergate which is the very heartbeat of Preston City centre. For those unfamiliar with Preston the shop can be reached by turning off Fishergate opposite the Early Learning Centre.
In addition to Joannes' knowledge of dance, Kay has a wide knowledge of ballroom. Both Kay and Joanne have received training in London by ballet pointe shoe makers Gamba, Bloch and Grishko and are both expert fitters of Ballet pointe shoes. This training is vital as all ballet shoes differ according to their manufacturers.
Kay and Joanne cater for all types of dance including ballet, jazz, modern, tap, ballroom, cheerleading, gymnastics, ice dancing and line dancing. Their aim is not only to provide quality dance products at a price that dancers and their parents or children can afford but also to do it in a friendly helpful environment. All standards of dancers are catered for from complete beginners to expert professionals. Please call in to the shop and see for yourselves.
